New Meadow Copse layed hedge

The Friends of Rawcliffe Meadows are pleased and grateful that students from Askham Bryan College are once again helping with the management of the site. This time they are carrying out the laying of an overgrown hedge to the south of the New Meadow. This will hopefully discourage cattle and people from entering the adjacent copse which is a haven for wildlife. The copse is also being further managed as a part of the scrub management plant to both open up the ground area and introduce a range of heights to the shrubs, trees and scrub. Don’t be alarmed by the photograph, this was just the first day of their efforts (4th Feb 2013).
