As reported in Behind the Scenes in April, whilst the New Meadow may look a bit of a mess at the moment matters are in hand to remedy the damage caused by the sewage pipe bursting underneath. Actions on the area cannot be properly be started until the right season, along with seeing off a lot of the noxious weeds that will have resulted from the soil disturbance. Yorkshire Water continue to support us, but such things take time.
Having pricked out the two small trays of great burnet and meadowsweet that had been grown from locally collected seed, we now have a large number of mini-pots with individual plants growing on in a polytunnel at Brunswick Organic Nursery (see photo). These will eventually be transplanted into bigger pots and grown to a stage when they can survive in the wild, despite what the weather has to throw at them.
