Following the excellent work by Vale of York Trust for Conservation Volunteers on the 30th & 31st October 2013, the Friends took the opportunity of the fine, bright day on the 10th November to finish clearing the tansy plants, and some more of the coppiced willows. The tansy plants had been allowed to remain at the end of October since beetles had still been seen the previous week, but by mid-November the final beetles will have retreated to their underground sanctuaries to see out winter and the floods, and arise again in April. The opportunity was also taken to plant a couple of dozen more tansy plants expanding their growing area into where the overhanging trees had been cut back.
