First Tansy Beetle of 2014

A solitary male Tansy Beetle was present when the Pond Area was searched in the sunshine at lunchtime on 29th March. We had been expecting them as the post Tansy Beetle Time explains, but the cold, wet weather of the last few days wouldn’t encourage me out, so I didn’t expect the beetles to come above ground while it was like that.

One was reported on 28th March 2007 at the same site, so not the earliest on record.
