Signs of Spring: Chiffchaff arrivals at Rawcliffe Meadows

Our first ChiffChaff was heard on 24th March 2014 but then Chiffchaffs were heard throughout the area from Clifton Bridge to the Meadows on 26th March.  This compares to the late arrivals last Spring due to storms when they weren’t heard until the second week of April but is almost a perfect match for 2012 when they were first heard on 28th March.

Seven birds were singing on the 26th including along the Ings Dyke tree line, Chapel and the Country Park.  The same number were singing in virtually the same places on 4th April but the Copse had its very own singer by then!
