Out of the blue, got a ‘phone call this morning (10th June 2014) to say that the Friends of Rawcliffe Meadows have been nominated in the community category of the Yorkshire Post Environment Awards 2014, which are to be announced at a ceremony in Leeds on the 16th June.
I’d long ago stopped submitting the scheme for awards as doing the accounts, maintaining the website, emailing members and managing the Countryside Stewardship was enough clerical work without adding more, especially when there are practical tasks that always need doing, but like the Site of Special Scientific Interest notification and confirmation it is great that nearly 25 years of hard work is occasionally acknowledged.
Thank you whoever nominated us
