Next Friends of Rawcliffe Meadows work party 6:30 pm 16 July at New Meadow to clear around tansy plants

Thanks to all who made it last Thursday, the hay got spread and although there’ll be more to spread now Gary has managed to get on and turn and bale, this at least should help with the regeneration of the Cornfield grassland. We also cleared the sides of the cycle track north of the Copse for Sustrans.

We’re back to focusing on cutting back the encroaching plants around the tansy, this week at the New Meadow and then on Sunday 26th from 10:30 at the Pond. This is a slight change to the plan but we’re still managing to keep on top of things. Apart from the fine cutting, the big arisings will need to be raked out of the way.

Don’t forget the butterfly event on the 19th July with Rachel Pateman! Although the meadows have been cut there are still plenty in the Reservoir Basin.

Martin has been busy with surveys on ponds and inverts so we’ll have plenty of data to advise our management, along with plenty more jobs to do!
