After some twenty years of existence, the fence around the Pond has been showing signs of wear, which is not surprising given that many years it has been underwater fior periods and suffered the ingress and egress of the water that is the purpose of the Ings – to hold floodwater.
Fortunately, we’d been allocated funds from the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust’s Wet Grassland Project, funded by Biffa, for a number of pieces of work including the pond fence. The contractor chosen did an excellent job, recycling the old gate and removing tree branches where necessary without disturbing the tansy plants.
