Most of the land that comprises Rawcliffe Meadows is owned by the Environment Agency apart from part of the Cornfield which belongs to City of York Council and from who we lease it. Our main source of funding is what was known as Countryside Stewardship and is now split into Entry Level Stewardship and Higher Level Stewardship. Other than that we are reliant upon a very modest return from our hay crop, any grants we can get and the occasional hand-out from the Environment Agency.
The management and maintenance is carried out by the small band of volunteers known as the Friends of Rawcliffe Meadows who look after the area on behalf of York Natural Environment Trust.
