The next Friends of Rawcliffe Meadows Work Party is on 4th July 2013 from 19:00 at the New Meadow (other side of cycle track from Reservoir Basin). It’ll be a chance to see the meadows, or what the Environment Agency haven’t cut early in advance of the barrier bank repairs, in their glory.
The meadowsweet, with a bit of luck will be flowering, with the great burnet and other herbs. The bees and butterflies should be flying, subject to weather, as will be the work party (subject to weather that is).
The evenings tasks are:
- To cut & rake southern edge of New Meadow ready for tansy planting in September.
- Check hogweed for seed heads & remove.
- Hand collecting of seed, inc red clover, meadow buttercup, sorrel & ribwort if weather permits
